Nepali Congress Youth Leaders Launch Campaign for Party Reorganization

Call for Special General Convention on Kojagrat Purnima

Kathmandu: Youth leaders of the Nepali Congress have formally launched a campaign for party reorganization, demanding major changes in the party’s ideology, organizational structure, and leadership.

At an initial meeting held on Wednesday, representatives of the general convention and members of the general committee concluded that the party must now convene a special general convention to address its internal crisis.

Congress general committee member Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, who led the meeting, said that the proposal is to hold the special general convention on Kojagrat Purnima. He further informed that a large gathering of general convention representatives and general committee members will be organized on Asoj 3 (Constitution Day) to exert pressure on the party leadership for immediate reform.

Discussion on Political Situation
Senior journalist Taranath Dahal presented an analysis of the current political challenges facing the country during the meeting.

The gathering was attended by about two dozen leaders, including central committee members, general convention representatives, and former Biratnagar mayor Bhim Parajuli. Other notable participants included Binod Khanal, Kumar Luitel, Paltan Sah, Rudra Kandangwa, Dr. Surajraj Kafle, Tekraj Poudel, Prakash Deuba, and Sangita Phuyal.

Push for Leadership Change
The leaders stressed that the party cannot move forward under the current leadership and called for a complete ideological and organizational overhaul with new leadership at the helm.

They have appealed to general convention delegates, members, and well-wishers across the country to unite for the party’s transformation and actively participate in the reorganization campaign.
